Resolutions at Last

It took me a few days now didn't it? That's because I am never truly ready when New Years rolls around. Resolutions need contemplation. I assume that for most of our insane society they have a lot of time to contemplate after Christmas is done. For myself, Christmas is not truly done until spending time with my family up-north. Then I enter the contemplation period. Obviously my contemplation period takes a long time. I remember one year where my resolutions were done on January 14th. So, as I prepared to settle in for an evening of Johnny Dep and Pirates 3, I found a nice little journal and jotted them down.

Before actually presenting my resolutions I must give thanks to Maggie at Greywaren Art who inspires me to do such things as set goals, get off my but, and eat cookie dough. Insipiring me means I must inspire others, or force my ideas on my kids, so they also now have resolutions. Yipee!

Goals for 2008

Fitness and Health:

  • Lose 30 lbs (again)
  • Exercise three times per week (haven't done this in over two years - yikes!)

Art :

  • Write in journal each night at least one item of gratitude and one drawing. (to keep on track)
  • Create painting a day (to improve abilities)
  • Join an on-line community of daily painters such as: Daily Painters (marketing)
  • Create an on-line ebay art store. (income!)

Horses:

  • Continue lessons twice a month as weather permits. (to improve abilities)
  • Ride 3-4 times a week March through October (to improve abilities)

I could go on and on about why I made these goals and how I plan to accomplish them, but that I am afraid would just bore you to tears. I will say that I have further broken down my goals into monthly goals so that I might accomplish these goals by the end of December 2008.

As I was reveiwing this post it hit me how truly blessed I am.

Good luck with your goals! They sound very doable . . . and losing 30 pounds on a diet of pure cookie dough should be dazzlingly easy. :D

Your goals could be my goals, with writing fiction instead of painting.

I'm taking a wonderful on-line course called Defeating Self-Defeating Behaviors. I'm full of hope!

Keep posting your progress and maybe you'll inspire us all.
