Well it is, but I'm living in denial. This is from last winter as I'm too lazy right now to actually go and take some pictures of the horses. Besides, they are smart enough to be in the shed.
In my happy corner of the world I've had a busy week. I got called in to sub twice this week, in addition I worked my normal Weight Watcher meeting along with another. My checks will be awesome in a few weeks, just in time for the mindless spending I spiral into this time of year.
My girls and the neighbor girl started their English winter lessons this week. We were all VERY excited to meet the trainer and be back on to adventures with the horses again. The six weeks or so we have been away from it seemed like long enough. The girls learned some basic information on not only riding hunt seat but also horse anatomy etc. The trainer was fabulous with them and welcomed feed back at any point in the lesson. In addition she taught the neighbor girl some long lining lessons to help her horse with downward transitions. Downward transitions translation is to come down from a faster pace to a slower pace such as a lope to a trot. She would like all the girls to work on cleaner transitions and stops.
This weekend N and I are to travel four hours across the state to a 4H Horse Leaders Conference where we will learn all sorts of interesting things. Or so it would seem if it would only stop snowing. I used to go out in any weather, but as I have gotten older the thought of driving into the heart of a storm, the FIRST storm of the year has got me rethinking things. The Man just came in and said it didn't look so bad because the cows were out grazing despite the weather. I in turn said "What do they know?" Yea. Nice huh? I try to avoid the intelligence debate from equine to bovine if at all possible, but sometimes I slip.

I still haven't been called in to sub! I thought it was just me but I talked to some other newcomers and they hadn't gone either which made me feel better. I guess they start with experienced first!
So I am happy for you....good luck on building those checks!
I am ready for my lessons to be over! I wish I had the zest your girls do. Maybe I should've started a bit younger!
What'd you end up doing??? I heard the highway was closed at Osseo. 16 inches of snow in some town down that way. Cars stuck on 94 for 3 hours! People (women and men alike) getting out of their cars and standing there peeing on the highway in the snow...
Inquiring minds want to know! Did you drive to River Falls? I didn't get a call. Did you venture out, girl? How'd you play it?
I have to admit, I'd have been a chicken and stayed home. I went to Eau Claire yesterday and rode with a couple of gals and the one had to come home from the Dells the day of the storm. She said it was a LONG nightmare.
