This is one of many photos I have found on my cameras over the years. Always random, always of S, taken by S. A little hello to brighten my day!
S stubbed her toe on Saturday while babysitting with a friend. She's been hobbling around on it ever since. Jack gave her the Brett Farve speech about playing through pain, being injured while doing sports etc etc. So, she tried on Monday to play in her 7th grade volleyball game. She hobbled her little self out on to the court and lasted almost a complete rotation until she had to dive for a ball at which point she took herself out.
A crowd of seventh grade fellow players gathered around and oohed and ahhed her purple, green, red and black bruised foot. Her mom had less sympathy for her. I don't know why, probably because I have seen quite a bit of drama for the last 16 years from my kids. Well, okay maybe not the first year of their lives. But children and adults alike like to be coddled when they are hurting. I did take some ibuprofen to school for her yesterday and have been having her sit each night with it elevated. The first night I saw it I was quite concerned, but realized that because of its location, time, elevation and a little ibuprofen were all that was needed. And a little sympathy.
This morning she came down stairs and said "I'm playing in the game tonight." Yesterday I noticed she was walking with less of a limp, so I guess she is better. Or at least Brett Farve better. Better enough to tough it out through maybe two rotations on the court?
I moved the horses across the road and in their pen is a protein tub, so I have taken to not feeding them grain as much. They are a bit confused when they see me out and about outside and not feeding them, but they are looking just as I would like them to going into the winter. Even Lloyd is a bit chunky!

I love this photograph of S. It is adorable. :)
I'm glad her stubble is feeling better.
My son is a volleyball coach. I think that his girls tend to play hurt as well. I don't think he "encourages" them to do so, but I don't think he "discourages" them either.
