What Can a Mom Do?

They just keep growing up!!

S graduated from sixth grade today and starts junior high next year. I thought I would be sad, and I was a bit, I thought I would cry, but not at all. She suprised us with the silver level presidential excellence in academics award. She is not an outstanding student if you look at her grades, but she has an inquiring mind and strives to do well. She studies hard and her grades are very important to her. Her teacher these last two years noted how far she has come and how proud she is of the work she does, and what more can one ask for than to be proud of one's work?

She received the future farrier award and was told to remember to tighten her saddle...advice we could all use. Despite her awards at school, in her eyes her greatest accomplishment as of late was cantering bareback. (with a helmet...with a helmet) She was so proud to show me, it brought me back to the days when she would ride Kelzon and get him going as fast as she felt comfortable with and the stop and ask "did I gallop?" I'd shake my head and say sorry, not that time...

N has advanced to junior level at the high school. *sigh* It just doesn't seem real that in two short years she will be graduating. She is within in the top ten in her class, and I suspect the top five after this grading semester. She taught her sister to work hard at grades and seems to obsess about it at times, but that's my little (or big as she's now taller than I am) overacheiver. She recently was told she would recieve the piano piece for the fall musical and was named section leader of the flutes for marching band competitions. She was on cloud nine.

Thanks for enduring my little brag post. I'm just so proud to be blessed with such nice kids.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. ;)

Oooooooooh, canter bareback!! I took off Dante's saddle at the end of a lesson last week and rode him back to the stables and everyone had a fit (no one ever ever ever rides bareback here) I was thinking I want to work up to a canter....mmmmmmm....

Braggings allowed.......actually I think it's encouraged around here. Good for the girls. It sounds like they're both doing great.
