MIA

Last year I submitted a piece of art work to the local artists show and had you all vote on my submission. This year the date is again fast approaching so I will be busy trying to get some work done in the next week. By Friday I need to submit my application stating what my work is and what medium I am using so I'd best get busy. Last year for Christmas Jack got me a set of oils, so I will dab in that first. Literally, because I like to dab.

Anyhoo...

We finally got Lloyd this weekend. I have so much to share and little time so let me just say we made it home safely despite the fact that for the second time this year the hitch unit that is attached to the truck came off. Different truck, but still. I'm starting to wonder.

Lloyd is without a doubt the cutest donkey I have ever seen. We all love him to pieces already. Dixie and Classy hate Lloyd. The Geldings could care less about him. He's quite upset at the moment because the carpenter is here finishing the birthing shed and he is separated from his herd. They beat him up and chase him around, but he'd rather be with them than not.

We also got two dairy steers for the fair next summer. They are HUGE. We estimate they weigh about 900 to 1000 lbs already while our Angus steers who will attend the fair are around 600 to 700 lbs. Dairy steers take longer to finish, so they are about 4 months older than our Angus.

I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was really just wonderful with lots of fun family memories made and good eats.

That instinct to be in a herd is so overpowering even when being abused, it still holds strong. There is so much about these animals we just don't understand.

Glad that you had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was a good time too.
