We are thinking of switching over and getting a Mac as my next computer. We've talked about it for years and Jack thinks it would be best if I started the switch over.
So... let me hear what you think...
Do you have a Mac? If so, was it hard to switch from a PC to a Mac?

We have five Macs among us-- and nothing but Macs since 1986. We all use PCs at work and school because we have to-- I'm the tech person in the office for the PC. PCs are okay, but we've had to call in the computer services people three times in the last year, while I've onl had to call in outside help with our Macs three times in 21 years. Macs are not only more satisfying to use in terms of smoothness and intuitive-ness, but also easy to fix on your own if you don't mind going into a forum and asking for help...whereas fixing the PC has been difficult because it's all really complex and often involves actually writing out command lines....
Mac also has great freeware with beautiful graphics that are easy to install and use. The world of Mac users is full of designers and other arty types who make beautiful stuff and put it out there to share, just because. I find in the PC universe, things are...uglier (lots of primitive grey boxes everywhere) and much less sharing.
When buying your Mac, don't get the latest operating system (Leopard). It just came out and has some bugs that don't look good. We are waiting to upgrade after those issues are resolved. This is the first time a Mac operating system has been clearly problematic.
Love, love, love our Macs. I'd be very happy to share my links to great freeware sites, icons, etc. So much to explore!
I've been considering the same thing. I don't even know anyone with a mac but in forums and such have heard they are much easier to use.
Yes...Mac all the way! You'll love it.
The switch WASN'T hard, Kath. And really, as an art girl, you can't go wrong. Keli and I both made the switch and we've never suffered a freeze-up on either of our computers since we bought them. I've only used my desktop Dell once or twice since I bought my MacBook Pro. (or since it was purchased for me... heh)
I think you'll love it. Slight learning curve, but you'll really be glad you made the switch, I think.
My first computers were Macs but now I only use PCs. If I had the money I probably would buy a Mac because I've so many problems with my pc plus the Macs are pretty ;)
The only switch over part that might be challenging is if you have LOTS of files, documents, etc. that are formatted such that Mac would not easily read them. I have a friend who just switched to Mac and had trouble with some complex financial programs and spreadsheets or something. In general, Macs can read PC files, no problem. I love my Mac - always had a Mac though I trained on PCs in college, even taught PC use.
Hi Kathy C
Sorry I havent been here in so long I am going to try to keep up to date, hey that can be my new year's resolution.
I use PC and my husband has been thinking of going Mac but I think that the software is all different so you will have to purchase all of the programs you use again so they are compatible. I dont know if they offer upgrades from PC to Mac but I am willing to bet they charge you for that too. Just a thought to look into I could be wrong.
