Good Times, Sunshine and Summertime

S was wandering around taking shots yesterday in hopes of coming up with something for the fair. As I was unloading feed I looked over and saw her standing on top of the LP tank. Here's the resulting shot. This looks over the horse pens and onto the pond. You can see Classy and Ace in the distant grazing. (Click on image to make larger) This time of year the pond gets green and weed filled and our horse lots get full of weeds.

I will be addressing the weeds in the lot this fall. We initially had our cattle over graze the lots when we built them because they were part of an alfalfa field that would have killed the horses. What was left was a bit of grass and now the weeds have taken over. I'd like to return it to a grass pasture but am unsure how to do it without first spraying and killing the weeds. I hate the idea of spraying, and it seems like it will take forever for a good grass pasture to be established. Next week I will see our county pasture management adviser so I will ask for his advice and maybe have him stop out. (yes someone actually gets paid to do that)

Here is a couple of other shots that I thought turned out really nice just out of the camera, no cropping.

I love that big shot of the farm-- it filled up my whole screen. Delicious! And I love the one of the yellow flower. Is that Honeysuckle?

I was just getting ready to comment on how nice the photos are and I just noticed the raspberries on the side. That is cute, I like it!

I love summer and things being green. I have refused all sprays for the last few years. I don't mind the weeds as much as I do the thoughts of toxins. And they can be pretty at a distance!
