Timmy!

This image is from playing around for 5 minutes...who knows what will happen if I actually know how to use the program! Oh, and if you have ever watched South Park and heard those nasty kids yell "Timmy!" you have just heard what happens at least once a day in our house.

My favorite weather man Charlie has said we are about to hit a cold snap. High today will be about 20 degrees. So I'm about to head out and haul a weeks worth of hay and fill all the water tanks. This time of year I keep an eye on the weather to see when it will be warmest to do the big chores. Charlie says high in the single digits by the weekend! It is after all still winter, global warning or not, it has to get cold sometime. The one thing I forgot to do when it was warmer was try out the new saddle. So tonight N, S and I will saddle up to see if the new English saddle will fit rider and beast.

Tonight N will give a informative speech on deworming to our local 4H horse club. We actually have a lovely sample to display of a bot larva. Yep, after deworming I noticed some larva so I picked it up for her speech. (I was wearing plastic gloves!) She will also be encouraging the students to start a poster for the fair. It's the perfect time of year. Meanwhile, in the other room I will be discussing horse safety with the parents. I have a wonderful guideline to go over with them that I picked up at our state's 4H horse conference. Our county is in such disarray right now, I'm not sure we are ready to implement it this year, but it's something we need to start talking about. Too many riders come to the fair with little or no control over their horses. The guidelines I have will help prevent accidents and hopefully make the project better.

In art news I have started teaching a local girl once a week. Right now both of our schedules only allow about a half hour lesson. Today I will start working on lessons from the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

Last weekend I had nine 4H students take an acrylic painting class. It was pretty hard to get around and help everyone. I had hoped to offer it county wide, but now I am glad it was just our local club. We will meet again in February to continue working on the painting they started.

Drawing from the right side of the brain is a really good teaching reference. The natural rider by mary wanless is another good right brained riding book. I discovered your blog today and ive really enjoyed reading it. Keep up the good work!
