Waiting

In the morning I usually wait to go outside until it warms up a bit. This morning Mick, who had slept inside, got impatient and came to find me. It was time to go out.

As I fill feed buckets and get hay put in the cart I can hear the horses banging on the gate while they are vying for position and waiting.

I grab a handful of sunflower seeds and throw it to the chickens who are waiting.

Knowing he will soon be able to lick buckets dry, Mick is laying in the snow waiting.

Waiting, waiting, waiting for Bart our barn cat to finish drinking his share of water. When he is finished the water is used to mix the supplements so I know the horses are consuming them all.

It's that time of year again where fresh water is in short supply. All of the animals have heated water sources or fresh fountain water. All except Bart, who, if he was desperate enough, could walk to the fountain, or drink from Mick's bowl. Instead he waits for my arrival each morning and then we wait.

I love it! A day after my own heart, I can so relate. And we are having the water problem. I have to keep refilling the dog and kitty bowls because they are freezing up.

I enjoyed your photographs! I don't think I've ever seen Mick or your kitty! Not in a long time anyway!
