Yes, it's true. The sun has returned. With it came subzero wind chill factors. At 8 am here it was 5 degrees out. YOUCH!
Last night was to be N and S's bi-monthly riding lesson. S needed to take the night off as she is working hard to get her grades up and already has basketball commitments. N was very excited to ride. Tuesday night I started making noises about canceling. The high for yesterday was to be 24 degrees. She insisted her friend A insisted - so we held out to see what the day would bring. At 3 pm we finally canceled on the recommendation of the teacher. With the windy, cold, nasty weather it would be foolish to subject the horses, who live outside, to come inside, get sweaty and then ride in a trailer home. It was a guaranteed vet call type of situation.
In other news N is preparing (already) for college. We are seeing a counselor on Friday about what classes she should take to make the transition to a big ten school more likely. She is also going to ask to fast track her science and math classes to be able to take AP or On-line college classes as a Junior and Senior. I don't know where she gets this drive from, and it quite honestly worries me at times. Crazy kid. The Man and I have already decided she WILL NOT graduate early. She is young for her class as it is.
In art news I am in the midst of printing my Christmas card. I'm getting messages that my tri-color cartridge is running low!

I agree... its WAY too freaking cold. My dogs have to wear thier jackets whenever we go out. Its bad.
Yeah, if your horses cant be put in a barn after a lesson, probably not a good idea.
I am actually done with my clients for the year...other than round penning the yearling every day so she doesnt get overly fat and we can show her next year in lounge line.
The card is gorgeous. I cannot believe N is prepping for college. :( They grow so fast! But the drive! WOW. Fabulous. She sounds like a certain S we all know and love! :) Not so much like a particular K. There is school news on that front, as well. I'll divulge soon. You can probably guess?
Smooches.
I don't blame you...tell her she will miss being a kid and when she is out in the world paying her on way! Don't graduate early, they grow up so quickly anyway. It is amazing how early you have to prepare for college and kudos to her for being such a responsible student!
I love your card.
We don't ride when it is this cold. For one thing Spirit is too dirty to put a saddle on him since they get to roam the pasture during the day and I can't bath him in these temps. He wore his first blanket of the season this week and he looked like a Vienna Sausage he is so fat! Doesn't take long for the weight to come on when they aren't riding!
