I am so sorry. What a beautiful animal. You have lost a friend and a beloved part of the family and again I am just so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and the girls....just remember what a wonderful life you gave him.

My heart goes out to your family, Kathy. From your writing and photos, I can understand what a special bond there was. The relationship was clearly a blessing for your family, and for Kelzon as well. He will live on in your memories.

I think I owned Kelzon years ago. I sold him in 1995 to Shelley. Is that where you got him? His full name is exactly the same and so are the photos. For a while Shelley kept me informed as to how he was doing. Sorry to hear of his passing.
He was an interesting horse with a mind of his own, one day wonderful the next, the devil. I still keep photos of him around the house.

Suzanne,

I couldn't reply directly to your post, but yes this must be the same horse. I did get him from Shelley after her son Cole outgrew him. He was indeed the devil you claim. Some days I would curse him up and down and others hug on him to no end.

He is still deeply missed.

Some where in our move I lost the half-arabian papers that Shelley had given me when we bought him. I would love to know his full registered name.

What I was trying to convey is that I couldn't email you in response. I hope you revisit the blog. I obviously DO have his full registered name, just not the papers.

At any rate, he was a dear old friend who as I said we still miss.

Kathy,
I will look to see if I have a copy of his papers. Did keep a copy but we have moved twice, so I don't know. His name was a combination of his mother and father.
He was in a parade once on the 4th. The owner of the farm where I kept him wanted to ride in the parade with his kids, so he borrowed K. With all the flags, bands and people, I thought he might have a stroke, but he managed.
At one point when I owned him, he had to be totally retrained. Yikes! But I never gave up on him, he was just so cute.
My husband surprised one Christmas with a portrait.
Yes, he was quite a horse and while difficult to sell him when we left WI, it sounds like it was the best thing for him.

Suzanne I also wanted to let you know that the only reason Shelley sold him to us was because Cole out grew him. We had watched them for years at events and always yearned to have a horse like Kelzon. I told her if she ever thought about selling him she should let me know. Two months later she let me borrow him for my daughter. The next year Cole agreed to let us buy him with a buy back agreement.

They would see us at shows and always inquire about how he was doing.

Kelzon became famous in our part of the world. Often when we would go to a show people would yell "go Kelzon" instead of "go Shyla!"

Thanks for contacting us. It made us all smile.
