Last week was spring break for my girls. We ventured down to Chicago and I snuck away on Sunday to visit the Chicago Art Institute.
While there I went directly to my favorite painting Two Sisters (On the Terrace), 1881 by Pierre Auguste Renoir. There is just something about this painting that stops me in my tracks. I just can’t get enough of the color. This picture doesn’t do it justice, and I could find no reproduction that does. I searched the gift shop in earnest to find something, anything, that compares to it in real life, but sadly was disappointed. The reds in the hat, the older sisters lips and the flowers are striking. All of the colors just come alive and draw you in. It is always the first painting I go to see while visiting the museum, and always the last I visit before leaving.

It is an awesome painting.
I am checking out your site. I love the horses. I need to read more...we have 3 but they are treated more as pets I'm afraid....especially my baby Paint Spirit.
My husband's horse actually does have a nice blood line...her granddaddy was Tardy's Tuffy and we have been discussing breeding her at least once. She really is a beauty. But it shames me to see how well mannered and groomed your horses are!
Ah, the Art Institute. I was there a long time ago. Lovely place! Lovely city! Actually spent 11 years (early childhood) in the Chicago area. I have a horse-owner friend (best friend in childhood) who lives in Schaumberg (sp??). Is that near you?
Reply - hmmm not really. Schaumberg (don't know how to spell it either) is about 3 hours from here.
