It's cold here. I know it's cold everywhere in the states this weekend, but I have to just say it anyway. It was -12 f this morning. Despite that, Dixie still felt the need to give me her impression of a bucking bronc. All this week I have been feeding at 6 am due to my work schedule, so today I decided to sleep in. I think the delayed feeding did more to upset the horses than the cold temperatures.

I'm happy to report that after some after dark chicken swapping I am now in possession of 7 hens and 1 rooster that are officially MINE! It caused some hard feelings in the family for a day or so, but I did my best to smooth out the feathers. This spring I have plans for a chicken run expansion and the possibilities of little baby chicks just makes me happier than you can imagine. Yes, things on the chicken front are much, much better. I have even been fortunate enough to start getting eggs again. Beautiful brown farm eggs.
This week I bought my first "horsey" decoration. As long as I have owned horses, and loved horses you would have thought my house would be decorated with saddles, horse shoes etc. Instead I have been very conscientious of Jack's dislike of the species. My tastes have run towards a modern eclectic style of country decorating. But the other day, while shopping at Tractor Supply, I saw a Shepard's pole with a mare and foal on it that would hold my two new bird feeders perfectly. I HAD to have it. It sits outside the window by the desk that holds my computer.

That's the latest from the arctic, except to say of course "Go Pack Go!" And if you happen to watch the Packer game this weekend and wonder how those crazy people stay warm, remember this is the state of beer and brats, and that helps a lot!

This is a photo of Osa's brother Timmy. Timmy doesn't much like the cold either!

We'll be hunkered down in SE WI this afternoon to watch the pack...after I sleep off my 12 hour night shift. They'll be freezin' their "patuties" off!
That's a great photo of Timmy. Okay, I won't complain about my heater being broken and it being 60 degrees in my house. It's much colder where you are!
Stay warm...I can't say "Go Pack" cuz....i hate to say it....I am a Viking in fan:-) But since the Viks are out...I can pull for your team, just this once:-)
Glad that you got your chickens back and POO!....They lost....
Timmy's little face reminds me of Dale. I think we are done with chickens after this last group, though I did love the chicks. This last hen just poops right in the back yard and patio and brick wall and it is so big, it's wierd! I can't take it much longer. I like having them if they would just stay away from the house!
