School's In

Another year has started.

S is now in her last year at the elementary school as she is in 6th grade. She has grown like a weed this summer and I often look at her and wonder what happened to my little "tig."

N started 10th grade yesterday. She was able to take a creative writing class and said she already learned in one day more than she did all last year in 9th grade English. She is a good writer and avid reader but is determined to have a career where she "makes money." I think that might be the teenage clothes hungry girl coming out.

After two shows this weekend we gave the horses a day off on Tuesday. Last night S and I went for a trail ride. She rode Dixie bareback. She has really gotten into goofing around on the horse, bareback riding, getting on and off either side, sliding off her rump, anything I will let her try. Yesterday's comment on the trail? "I wish Dixie came with a cup holder."

Nicole went to the trainers last night after tennis practice and rode Gunner. Taking him to a couple shows really helped her confidence with him alot. We had been over cautious around him and both she and I have relaxed. We got a nice comment yesterday about Gunner having a good mind with a lot of willingness to do what was asked.

Have you ever had one of those friends who is your best friend when all you other friends aren't around? This is the relationship Dixie has with Gunner. He was her best friend at the horse show on Saturday, but on Saturday night when we turned them out together she chased and snapped at him at every chance. I hate those kind of friends!

I didn't realize until after I got this home that both girls faces are in the shade. Oops.

Thanks for your comment and story about Dixie. What a laugh! I put you in my blog roll. Still trying to figure things out. Hope that's okay.
