That's how I feel about spring right now. Thus the change in template. We'll just pretend it's nice out and shortly it will be.
Sunday morning I spent an hour digging the hoses out to water the horses. I had filled up their tank two weeks ago (yes it's big) right before we received the big storm. Then SUPPOSEDLY it was going to be warm on Sunday so I would be able to get the hoses out easily. Yea right. It was actually quite pleasant out, but not at 7:30 when I was kicking through the hardened shell the high winds had created over the last week. At one point I just fell back into the snow as if I was making snow angels. Sweat was dripping inside all my bundled up clothes. Man I'm out of shape!
We did go finally to see a horse on Sunday. Despite the fact that N felt he was conformationally excellent, his age showed through and we have decided he is a bit too much for S to handle. He's a beautiful black and white pinto with a lovely medicine hat, white body and black tail. Quite striking! This weekend, hopefully, we will venture off again to see another one.
Sadly we have lost the first two calves that were born Wednesday and Sunday night. The one was born dead and we are not sure what happened to the other. That's the hard part about having calves in March, having to deal with the unpredictable weather. We have four bred heifers that are due this week alone! The same thing happened last year, we lost our first three and then it was all down hill with lots of wonderful calves. Hopefully our losses are done!

Boy, I'm with you about spring, if it doesn't come soon I'm going to have a meltdown. I would really like to go ride but can't get enthused about dragging my old body up into the saddle for a once a month ride. It takes a week to get over the aching in my joints. I need days strung together so my body can adjust. And my horses aren't happy with the lack of use either.
Would like to link to you. I've started a horse blog for people who own and love horses whether they follow a discipline or just enjoy their company. www.midwesthorse.blogspot.com

Oh no! That just breaks my heart...I'm sorry. My daddy is a cattle man and I know how awful you feel losing a calf. Bless their hearts.
