Over the past few years N's passion for riding has, well, lets just say dissipated a bit. Boys you think? While she's interested in the occasional guy, she for the most part still things they are useless and don't have enough brain cells in their head to know how to walk down the halls at her school.
It has more to do with history of riding different horses. She still has the work ethic needed to compete, it's more a matter of missing a spark I used to see.
On Monday she asked to ride. I reminded her that we had been at a show the day before and traditionally we take the day off.
"I've been looking forward to riding all day." It warmed my heart.
But here's where my heart froze over again.
She has also made comments about not owning horses when she grows up. I thought that was fine. It's her choice. Now she tells me that when she's done with college she's going to come back and get Gunner.
WHAT!
I told her it had better be in the middle of the night, and she'd better be quiet, because if I ever caught her trying to take him, if I consciously knew she was taking him, it wouldn't happen. She giggled, but somehow I know she's dreaming of a farmette with her boy outside her window instead of mine. I can see it in her eyes.
Darn it!

I imagine that's with a little mixed emotions, LOL. I couldn't my horses until I divorced Zoe's Dad and she was 11yrs old at the time. I never could get her interested in them.{{sigh}}I started too late, but she never had the interest in the boys either. They irritated her. She did promise me to help me hand walk the girls for some conditioning when she gets home from college in a week or two.
I guess I have just been surprised at how close her bond has become with Gunner.
It's the time together that I enjoy the most with the girls and the horses.
How great that Zoe is willing to help you out. She must like them somewhat, or like yYOU!
THIS is an adorable post. :D
And a beautiful photo.
Yea, Keri, can you believe how grown up she is?! Darn it!
That is so cute! It was always the opposite with me, my mom was not a horsey mom when I was young. But get this, in the last year, (she is now in her mid-50's) she finally got a horse of her own! So now I am living the dream of having a horsey mommy! ;)
Not as interested.......but wants to take the horse with her, guess there's a bit of conflict there but her heart is still held by a horse. That's pretty cool. Gunner must feel pretty loved with both of you wanting him.
