Warm and Bitter?

The weather that is. Today it was actually up to 25 degrees out, but the wind kicked up and blew the newly fallen snow into some nasty drifts.

The little calf we have here on our farm has just not been thriving as I'd like her to. Today I told Jack and had him come check her out. He agreed and called the vet in. The poor tyke has a temp. She got a couple of good for ya shots and was bagged with electrolytes. Tonight Jack and I tubbed her again with milk. She was much more energetic, but still not where she needs to be. Hopefully she will rebound befor the next business trip takes him away.

Our little dumbo calf was up and jumping this afternoon. Her antics showed me so much more how the other little sweetie just wasn't where she needed to be. I had to drive through the drifts I mentioned above. This time of year really bites. On one side of the hill I was driving up it was slushy and would suck me in, on the other there were 30" high drifts. Good thing I put it into 4 wheel low ahead of time.

I'm anxious for my equine baby to arrive. S asks every day or so when she's going to arrive. I've got all the supplies I need, plus the vet is coming on Thursday for some final shots. I'll be quizzing her for any further supplies I need and any last minute advice.

I hope that calf does ok. It's so hard to have babies that aren't doing well.

Soundsl like you're getting excited about the foal.

I can't wait, either. How exciting! One of the other horse owners at our club has said he might like Dante to be the father of his mare's possible baby-- I'd love to see a baby of D.'s

It is a good thing you did go with your instincts on the little calf.
