Homecoming '07

Saturday would have been nice for another trail ride, but instead we did girly things and got N prepared for homecoming. Her hair is so thick that despite the layers of hair spray and two hours of curling, within an hour or so of completion it had lost some of the curl. It's just too heavy.

No date this year. A comment got relayed to me from a friend. One of the boys N grew up with said "All the girls looked really nice but the most beautiful one was N." I swear, she scares the boys. The Man says thats "good, good and good." Two boys asked her to dance, but she turned them both down. When I asked her why she turned them down she said: "Michael dances with everyone" and about the other? "I barely even know him, why would I dance with him?" The Man says girls like her scared him to death in highschool.

Here she is!

N. is wonderfully beauteous!! It's amazing!! (not amazing that she is beauteous, but that our girls are so BIG now!) Sunaliza has hair that will not hold a curl, or will for about 15 minutes than phttttt, flat. Most annoying. Just like mine.

At my tenth high school reunion I found out from the guys there that the reason that I and my best friends never had dates was that the boys were afraid of us. Apparently, they called us "The Untouchables" (no doubt they were ignorant of India's caste system). And the whole time I thought I was home alone because I was FAT (I was five eight, 143). Tell Nicole it gets so much better at university.

Thanks for the kind words Katie. I know she is starting to question her size. For so long she was a tiny little thing. When she'd complain I'd tell her to just wait, her size would come. Bam! (sorry Emeril) Within 2 years she went from a O to a 5.

She does have one boy who has been interested in her for years, but sadly HER best friend is obsessed with him, so N has honorably kept her attraction to him on hold. He knows, she knows, it's only a matter of time. I've told her some day they will come back from Univ and date.

Oh Kathy, she's gorgeous! And bright, and sensible, and sensitive to friends. All wonderful gifts. How lovely.

Sizing for these young ladies today is really challenging. Keli is in a 4 around her waist, but because (as she puts it) she has a little junk in her trunk, her thighs and hips require a 6. She puts on a six and the minute she tries to bend over or pick something up off the ground (or get something down on lower shelves at the coffee shop or store), she's exposing things she doesn't want to expose because of the cut of the pants.

She hates (as do I) the cut of today's fashions.

She is beautiful. Did she have fun, even if she didn't dance?
