After much contemplation I went ahead and had Classy bred last week. Here's a picture of the fine stallion...
His name is Hollywood Hotrod (barn name Billy) and he is a registered Appaloosa. He has his ROM (Register of Merit) in Judged Heeling, Timed Heeling and Heading, Reining and Working Cow Horse.
The whole process to date has been a learning experience. The taking her to breed and back was handled very well and Hollywood's owners were very professional and made the process quite easy.
Classy on the other hand is more of a DIVA than I ever would have thought. She has shown signs of needing to be "the queen" in the past, through nudges and begging to be clipped. (seriously) But since returning she has yet to quite forgive me for taking me "to that place!" The first night when I let her out with the herd she took off and didn't look back. A few hours later I went to feed the herd and she took them all to the back pasture and snubbed me. She is ALWAYS the first one up. One whistle and her head bobs up and she leads them up to the feed pans. I have tried to give her special attention this week, bathing her, brushing her and generally treating her the way she "deserves." I even brought Gunner home so she could have someone to hang with this weekend when we head to another show. She's coming around but it's been slow.
Here's a shot of one of Billy's offspring this year. He is colored Grulla, but will more than likely shed to black. This is what Billy looked like as a colt. We would be blessed to get such a color, with Classy being non-colored and all. Honestly, a live foal is all we ask for.

Hi, congrats.....how exciting for you and your family. We are new to the blogging world and I am having so much fun reading through other peoples blogs. I am really enjoying yours. I am wondering, are your kids in 4-H or do you do open shows. Mine are in 4-H and have been for 4 years now. We just bought a horse and can't wait to get it and start all the fun and exciting things in the world of horses.
Nice lookin' stud. And Classy too. It'll be interesting to see the baby next spring. Good luck in that endeavor. I know you struggled with this decision but it is exciting. I know I'm always excited to see Jess's new babies every spring.
How exciting! He's gorgeous. We're waiting on a foal any day now at my barn and I couldn't be more excited.
That is so exciting! Billy is a beauty too...And Aps are so tough. That is what our old Freckles is.
My friend is breeding her favorite girl and they used Spirit to bring her into heat which I took pride in...thinking he is so cute. Her horse is named Sassy which reminds me of yours. Anyway she stopped by the other day and was telling me how her horse actually seemed to be enjoying it...I said "Why wouldn't she?" She just laughed. I guess horses aren't as easy to go at it as humans?
That is one beautiful boy and I cant wait to see what Classy throws!!!! Good luck!
Whoo - exciting! It seems like such a big decision - but then again I'm still debating breeding my dog, much less a horse. ;)
And Billy is a pretty gorgeous piece of horseflesh.
How exciting!! The stallion is gorgeous!!
