Deana and Callie commented about the picture in the previous post. It is the result of trying to get a reflection photo of the horses. As I was watching Ace (our temporary yearling visitor) rip around his field, I noticed the wind had died down enough to create the image I've been dying to get since last fall. I quickly ran into the house and grabbed the camera and lenses and headed out. Light was fading fast and of course the horses had decided to move on. So instead of checking the settings, I just put a lens on and started shooting. Here's the one shot I got. Dixie is in front, Classy bringing up the rear. (click on pic to enlarge)
Not even close to what I wanted. The horses moved around the pond to the back pasture and watched my movements like I was a Tiger after their foals. I had my telephoto lens on and was having a hard time keeping it still (amateur that I am). I have to order a stabilizer (?) today. It's silly to get blurry pictures when I have the camera and now the lenses to do better. Dixie is the closer horse, Catfish the further.
I finally gave up getting any good shots, turned around and was greeted by this sunset. It's a shot of our neighbors house and barn. Here's the un-cropped version. The black on the right is a tree. I was smart enough to use a tree to help stabilize the camera. It's a bit sharper than the horse shots, but still not what I would call quality. Anyhooo-
N is continuing to practice for State Solo and Ensemble competition this weekend. Here is a shot of her in her music area. Notice the bridles? Yea, that's what I hang on MY treadmill when it's not used. Can I be called a cow girl now??

Love, love, love the photos! Stop making excuses for the lack of technology, none of us would have noticed-- what counts is the eye and the timing, and the light-- the essence. I kiss my fingertips at you, cowgirl phototographer :)
OMG... Katie is right. Those are gorgeous photos, Kath. Absolutely beautiful.
I have been thinking about stabilizers myself. The problem is the one I need for my big zoom is about a grand and I really want a new wide angle and a macro by this summer...so...I wish they weren't so blasted expensive! I have to build slowly.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a stabalizer, guess that shows how camera savy I am.
I'd be tickled to death if I shot a pic like the one of your neighbor's place and you're not happy with it. Guess we're always our own worst critics.
They really are nice photos. I love photography, but I'm too impatient for extra lenses and all, so I have a little Fuji digital that I love. I have all the real stuff tucked away. 35mm Cannon and another one, can't remember what it is with masses of lenses and filters and all. Wish I had the patience like you. I admire that.
