For awhile now I have been admiring Lori's photos at Pro Photo by Lori. She takes wonderful action and still shots of her paint horses.
Now I admire her even more! The other day I went out to take some action shots of the herd. If you look over Gunner's back you can see a line of trees in the distance. The trees are the edge of a distant pasture that the horses have free access to. The fresh green grass of summer is coming in nicely here and so when the day is sunny the horses head out to this back pasture. I wolf-whistle them up when it is time for feeding. I can tell the pasture is delicious as it begins to green-up because I have to call two or three times to convince them to come.
The shot of Gunner above is as he is coming in for the final turn. The dry lot he is passing through is very muddy and has the consistency of clay so he is slowing his gallop to a slow lope for the turn. Lori's photos looks so beautiful and I took a ton of shots that didn't work and ended up with this mediocre shot.
If you have time check out Lori's web site. She has beautiful photos of the paint horses she breeds and cares for. Her horses have impeccable blood lines, are athletic and beautiful! She even has a few for sale if anyone is interested.

I am headed her way! I tried to get some of the horses running towards me the other day but I couldn't get it the way I wanted it to look.
Hello, I just wanted to say the sepia image of the horse you captured is brilliant.Gunner is a noble beast and it's a majestic image you've captured there and certainly worth a silver frame! It's good to share these images with other people.

I love Lori's blog. Her shots are amazing and horse pictures are hard!
