Horse fever is setting in around here. We had an excellent 4H horse meeting last night where we talked about show attire etc. With the Midwest Horse Fair coming up in April, it's time to dig down deep in the wallet for some new things.
N has hinted at being interested in taking the Fish into Hunt seat. We have no equipment. No, strike that, we have a lifter pad to help alleviate his high whither problem and a nice black saddle pad. What will we need?
A hunt jacket
A hunt shirt
Breeches
An English Saddle and all that goes with that
Hunt boots
Reins
An English helmet
I wonder how badly she wants to do it. She could very likely be the only one in the class unless A decides to join her. On the up side there is a nice 4H tack swap at the horse fair that we could hit up. I hate to borrow if at all possible, so we might have a nice discussion on our way to MN this weekend to look at another horse for S.
Speaking of which supplies for S this year will include:
A barrel saddle
A showmanship shirt
A showmanship halter
A western hat
A new horse
Which brings me back to the topic! This weekends horse looks more her style. She's a little older a little smaller and has a whole lot more experience in everything.
The picture above is N and A at their first fair experience back in '03. They are riding N's mount at that time Sierra. Sierra gave her quite a hard time in the gymkhana events but outside the arena she was and continues to be a sweetheart. N and A could do all kinds of things with her, ride her double, slide off her rump, crawl under her. And please notice Deanna the shear size of this horses stomach! I had a hard time keeping this one slim!

It's amazing how much stuff you need in this sport. There is always a list, even when you think you have everything!
Ya'lls legs look like they are going to do a split! I don't feel so badly now.
Still wishing you guys good luck in your new horse venture! I am trying my best into talking Martin into breeding Ruby this year. That way the colt will grow up close to Spirit in age and she'll be ready to ride about the time he hits retirement. I would just love to have a baby colt here!
