Trails

It's fall and therefore it's time to hit the trails.

Saturday we were scheduled to go on a 4H trail ride about an hour northeast of where we live. The weather forecast called for intermittent rain. So after much debate we chose to trail ride here closer to home. N's friend A came over and borrowed one of the herd members on our outing.

It is SO nice after a summer of arena work and shows to just relax and trail ride. N and I switched horses about half way through the ride. Catfish has a bout of rain rot and we were hoping it wouldn't effect him on the ride, but he ended up being very jumpy and in general uncomfortable. Between the 100 lb Newfoundland threatning to kill him and the little tiny red squirrel running in front of him, his natural high strung self surfaced. Therefore, I walked him along the trail happy to be with a horse no matter what fashion.

All three girls got into a rowdy game of tag shortly before heading back home. They had a blast and despite the fact that I wasn't riding, I did too! Just as we reached home it began to rain, so our decision to stay closer to home was a wise one.

Here's a picture N took of Classy's mane this summer. She intended to use it as a fair entry, but chose others. It's one of my favorites.

Every day we keep meaning to hit the trails and haven't.

Please send your girls to ride my little Spirit. He so wants to learn and be a good horse and he has such a horrible rider for an owner. I wish I wasn't so afraid, he deserves better!
Pretty please let me borrow them!
