Stepping Outside

This is the view when you step out the door of our house. The building is our garage which is an old log structure The Man's father and grandfather built from wood of this land. At some point it was decided to update the look with a tar-paper brick simulated siding. It is often joked amoungst my friends who will be the one to "accidentally" run into the garage and knock it over. Or perhaps its demise will come from a bonfire gone wild? Evil laughter gurgles from deep within as I think of ways to destroy the eyesore. The roof pitches at an unnatural angle, one of the windows is broken out and the garage door slides to the left, but it takes a woman stronger than I to open it. Unfortunate to my designer eye The Man and his brothers have decided that it is still structurally intact and therefore should remain.

The bedding plants are my attempt at brightening up a dismal situation. On the left is a beautiful tea rose bush that blooms a bright fuscia in June. I wish I knew the names of the other perrenials. The hostas are a given, but the names of the rest are a mystery. The yellow flowering bush is one of my favorites. I originally picked it for its purple underbelly. Yet it gained my love when it displayed its unique way of telling me it needs attention. It will quite earerly go limp if given lack of water. A little drink finds it standing strong and tall when morning arrives.

Aww. I have to admit, with your flowering plants around the foundation it has a sweetness to it that I kinda like, Kath. :)

Well your flowers look wonderful.

Men have a way to holding on to old out buildings and such....especially if it has sentiment! I could send over the Thugs (labs), their play might knock it over for you...they are destructive!

Ah, I love responsive plants. And tea roses are always beautiful. :-)
