Borreliosis

Uh - huh. Sounds like something fun doesn't it? It's what Keo has been diagnosed with. In other words...Lyme disease. The treatment includes 5 days of a large dose of antibiotics, and it's caused by woodticks. I'm surprised there are any even out this time of year, but then again, my dog who had been immunized against it picked it up in November. It's more than likely that she got it from a tick last fall or summer and the symptoms are now showing.

The vet checked her out completely and then took her temp. 103.1! Yikes. Meanwhile she's still nibbling on hay (although her appetite is supressed), and drinking water. He then noticed the yellowing of her gums and whites of her eyes. The blood test was delayed a bit, but it did finally come back as positive for Lyme. Blah.

This morning she is a bit livlier, so I know the antibiotics are already working. (yea!)
